Ukay-ukay!

Whenever I need clothes for a certain occasion and I’m sure it’ll be worn once, I shop for second-hand clothing instead of buying brand new. But it has to be nice and still in good condition, of course! Sometimes you can find treasure on everybody else’s trash if you’re just eager to search. ;)

Here in the Philippines, we have this what we call “Ukay-Ukay” that sells second-hand clothing at very cheap prices. Now that my graduation is coming in two weeks, I rummaged through Ukay-Ukays yesterday for a lovely white dress, and I was very lucky to find a pretty one for just php100 (around $2)! Sorry, no pics for now, but I’ll upload some after graduation. :)

I felt even luckier, when I stumbled upon in Ukay-Ukay this pink hoodie that seemed brand new! I couldn’t let it go that even though I absolutely have no use for it this summer, I still bought it and thought I’ll just wait for the cold and rainy season then use it! XD Will you believe me if I tell you I bought it for just php250 (around $5)?! :boogie:

Questions:

  1. Have you tried going to an Ukay-ukay/second-hand store?
  2. If yes, were you able to buy something nice and what is it?

Got the idea from Lisa. (thank you Lisa for allowing me to do it as well!) In Tin’s world…

  • A meal must always include rice.
  • Iced tea is water.
  • Midnight snack replaced breakfast.
  • 1am means time to sleep.
  • A pillow to hug when sleeping is a necessity.
  • Internet is one of the greatest inventions ever.
  • The space under the bed is a scary place!
  • cereals are not just for breakfast.
  • Sticky caps are used by idiots.
  • Ice cream helps me gain fat.
  • Bunnies are the cutest creatures!

What’s in your world? :)

After reading Gel’s entry, I suddenly felt the urge to share this:

Tada! A picture of my family when I was a kid. XD That’s my parents with old-fashioned hairdos, my brother, and me in that tiny dress. Can’t remember my age when that picture was taken, I’m not even sure if I already knew how to walk at that time. :D Gah, this entry is making me miss my parents more. :( (they currently live far away from home)

In case you’re wondering, I was born in the 80’s and I’m 22 now, how bout you? Don’t you think toddlers look cuter with jumpers, suspenders and dresses? Most children nowadays wear daring clothes, high heels and the like, simply… clothes that don’t match their age. Poor little things. :(

I hope you guys can share your family pictures as well!
