Less than a hundred days before Christmas. Whenever I come across the word “Christmas”, one of the first things that come into my mind is snow.
I want to experience snow even just for once before I die. Since I live in the Philippines which is a very tropical country, the only way I could ever play with snow is if I go to snow laden countries. My top choices would be New Zealand or South Korea.
Why New Zealand? I am a huge fan of Lord of the Rings, and I was at the peak of my fangirling days when the movie adaptations were being released on cinemas year after year. Upon seeing the movies, I was amazed at how the movie crew found such a beautiful place to shoot at and how fitting the location is for the setting of the story. Turns out, it’s in New Zealand. From then on, I dreamt of going there, to visit the exact filming site and get mesmerized by the beauty of nature topped with snow.
By now you shouldn’t be surprised as to why I want to go to South Korea so bad. I’m into K-pop for more than a year now, and my love for it grows more and more everyday. Heck, I even know more about the most insignificant details of Korean idols’ lives than what’s on our local daily news. I’d be able to watch my favorite groups such as U-Kiss, Secret, Kara, B2ST and SNSD on a daily basis on TV, even live in front of my own eyes if I get lucky! Aside from K-pop, my vanity pouch is now home to a few good Korean makeup. We all know Korean skincare and makeup products fare well against Western made, and South Korea can mean heaven to a girl like me. Imagine how much more makeup I can take home, knowing it’s cheaper there. It’s like 3 birds in one stone: K-pop, makeup/skincare and snow.
I’m now 23 and up until now, I wonder how snow feels like. Will I ever get to play in the snow? Buy car tire chains to combat snow on the road? Build a snowman? I hope I do in the future.
